What’s New in Windows 11 25H2?
Windows 11 versions 24H2 and 25H2 share the same underlying source code, with the newer version unlocking additional features. Due to this similarity, there will be no compatibility issues when upgrading between these two versions. The public rollout is anticipated around September–October 2025, aligning with Microsoft’s annual update cycle.
Important Upgrade Path
To upgrade your device to Windows 11 25H2, it must currently be running version 24H2. Devices running any version earlier than 24H2 will need to be upgraded to 24H2 first, and then updated to 25H2.
Feature Updates via Servicing
The new process known as Feature Updates via Servicing is using the same technology for the monthly update process to the annual feature updates. The updates are implemented through enablement packages (eKB). An enablement package is an update package that helps update a device to the next version of Windows with a single restart that reduces downtime.

Removing Default Microsoft Store Apps
One exciting new policy arriving with Windows 11 25H2 is the ability to Remove Default Microsoft Store packages from the system. This feature is particularly useful for IT administrators and organizations aiming to streamline device setups by eliminating built-in Microsoft Store apps that are not required in their specific environments.
